~Equallyoked~

For the last 2 decades of my life, I have contemplated the meaning of 2 Corinthians 6:14, and have discovered in my latter years how far-reaching this passage is concerning Christ-centered love. There are so many ways to be unequally yoked, as the Word of God clearly outlines , often times resulting in more discord with a fellow believer than would be expected. Did you know that you can be “unequally yoked” with a another Christian? 2 Corinthians 6:14-16 runs deeper than the obvious not pairing your heart with an unbeliever in Christ; a Christian couple can have subtle differences that may seem on the surface as a hairline crack that in time reveals a hidden canyon underneath! Issues in temperaments, financial perspectives, education, communication styles, and parenting (to name a few) can truly wreck the foundation of a Christian relationship or courtship.

However, the most paramount of all is being unequally yoked in where each follower’s relationship stands with Christ. What do I mean by this? Suffice it to say, each believer’s journey with Christ is unique and is what makes Jesus such a personal Savior who can meet us where we’re at and develop/strengthen our relationship with him accordingly. Nonetheless, there are certain foundational elements in our beliefs in who God-Jesus-Holy Spirit is and His Word that should unify all Christians (1 Corinthians 12:12). If the building blocks of faith, salvation, and worship of Our Creator is in discord, how can a couple/friendship/business partnership/family fortify each other’s growth in The Lord ? What are the things that can’t be compromised on, and what can be?

It’s already challenging enough to nourish kinships of love in this world without the difficulty of also finding compatibility with another believer on topics we should be at peace with. However, I thank Our Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6) for exemplifying love and elements of companionship in His relationship with us. With His Word as an infallible guide, we can endeavor to understand and appreciate the dynamics of our own courtships & relationships. As a result, we can furnish our hope in materializing an earthly companionship centered in Christ and satisfying in everlasting love.

Baby Shower Blessings

                                 Psalm 139:13

God's gift“For you have formed my inward parts: you have covered me in my mother’s womb.”

Isaiah 44:24

“Thus said the LORD, your redeemer, and he that formed you from the womb, I am the LORD that makes all things; that stretches forth the heavens alone; that spreads abroad the earth by myself;”

One of  the things I’ve been busy with has been assisting my younger sister in her event designing/planning of her best friend’s baby shower. My sister amazes me with how gifted she is in her ability to create crafts and art pieces “out of nothing”  resulting in an entirely beautiful event for her friends. Her artistic abilities confirm the creative qualities God shares as a gift with us to enjoy. However, I am even more in awe at God’s love & creation of a new life. I have yet to experience motherhood or giving birth, yet I cherish the moments I had during medical school of not only assisting natural and C-section births, but also caring for the beautiful newborns in the nursery. I’ll never forget participating in the C-section birth of twins and being trusted to hold them & prepare them for their parents during their first breaths of life.

Psalm 127:3-5

“See, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that has his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.”

If it be in God’s Will, I hope to enjoy parenthood with a worthy husband in Christ, as children are truly gifts of Our Loving Creator God. This is my sister’s friend’s second child, and she is looking forward to celebrating his coming. It is interesting how celebrating the anticipation of her son’s birth tomorrow, it reminds me of how Believers in Jesus, the "be fruitful and multiply"Church, is anticipating Christ’s return & celebrated His first arrival, or birth (Luke 2: 10-12; Rev 19: 6-9).

However, I’ve also unfortunately witnessed the frailty of life in the NICU and the brief life of conjoined twins. In knowledge of God’s Word on what a precious gift each new life is, it is crushing to know there are systems in place to destroy God’s most cherished creation. Can anyone on earth or in heaven create a new child from the complexities of genes, cells, and order without God’s creative power?? The ability to bring forth new life, especially in spite of the many assaults on health, is a not a force to  be reckoned with! Yet, just as Satan sought to “devour” Jesus Christ as “the child” of “the woman”, or Church,  in Rev. 12, that same Destroyer seeks to destroy our God-giving ability to procreate in our present day (Rev. 12: 17)

From abortions, contraceptive drugs, to food/environmental toxins and nutritional deficiencies, our bodies created with the ability to present new life in our children is constantly being attacked. Father God wants us to understand that His Love created us to then, in love, continue to procreate & be fruitful with joy in the world (Genesis 1: 26-31). Even Christ blessed children as those who have faith as them will inherit God’s Kingdom (Mark 10: 13-16).

Luke 17: 1-2

“Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that temptations to sin will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! It would be better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he was cast into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.”

Therefore, take great care to not only protect and enjoy the children God has blessed you with, but also to nourish your body in order to support new life under the right spiritual circumstances under Christ. Your love & parenting in The Lord will be a blessing to others & reflect God’s Glory.

Christian fathers

Ephesians 6: 4

“And, you fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”

  Colossians 3:21

“Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged”

Friendships: Gifts from God

Philippians 2: 1-2

“Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.”

Christian friendshipsIt has been quite a busy month for me starting this secular year. My Heavenly Father continues to share more wisdom, which allows me to mature each day in faith, as well as provide me with novel opportunities to share Christ’s Good News and love for others. Despite my busy day, I had a nice reunion with some dear friends I hadn’t seen in some time Friday evening. Since Sabbath begins after sunset on Fridays, I usually try to have all my errands and tasks for the day finished before sunset in order to begin relaxing in Christ with my family at home. However, there are times The Lord wants me to begin Sabbath by discussing with others, whether Believers or not, how Christ Jesus intimately cares about the topics that concern them for that day or week. On two separate occasions, I reunited with friends yesterday evening catching up on recent events & concerns as we’re enduring through these complex & sinister Last Days. We spoke about how the various things we were going through in our lives, whether on a physical or spiritual level, can be traced back to truths in God’s Holy Word. We all recognized how the worldly chaos surrounding us is Bible prophesy being actively fulfilled, and that we are not alone in our preparations for Jesus’ glorious return. We had so many topics to discuss, but we still departed being filled with encouragement, comfort, and joy in the Holy Spirit knowing we had fellow siblings in Christ sharing the journey.

Friendships and companionships yoked in Jesus Christ are truly gifts of God’s love for us. In Luke 17, Jesus prayed not only for his current followers, but also for those of us that would come to believe in Him throughout history in order that we’d all be “one” (yoked in complete agreement) in Christ with Our Father. As a result, we’d all share in the Holy Spirit how to pray for and encourage one another to endure this difficult world until Christ’s return. When friendships and relationships do not have The Lord as the nucleus, and their foundations do not reflect the truths in God’s Word, the fruit yields profound discord, distention, and distraction from God’s purpose for your life. It can be a dangerous path to be lead away from God’s love and relationship with you as a result of bad partnerships.

Therefore, take stock of those whom you are associated with in your life, and be mindful of what is your relationship with them truly based on. Consider the “spirit” that might be behind them in the topics you tend to discuss (or not discuss), the activities you tend to do, and the environments you tend to frequent. If the relationship/friendship falls short of assisting your walk & maturity in Christ, doesn’t seek to protect & comfort you in prayer, or steers you away from God’s best in your life, seriously reconsider continuing with those individuals. One friend or partner in Christ is worth more than the destructive union with many without Christ!

1 Corinthians 1: 10

“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”

Parable of 10 Virgins

For those who would like to delve further, here is a great illustration of the 1o Virgins Parable by Jesus in Matt 25. Remember, Jesus gave symbols in the parables to depict certain simple truths:

  • Oil= Holy Spirit
  • Lamp= physical/bodily vessel=Christians
  • Virgins=chaste women= Christ’s Church as a body

Do you have enough Oil when it gets as dark as midnight to meet Jesus?? Prov 20:27

Adam to My Eve

As I had mentioned in my previous post concerning my brief bout of insomnia (which I’ve now corrected thanks to God’s wisdom and answered prayers), I have spent the start of this secular new year in great contemplation. It’s clear that the world as we know it is changing so quickly in ways that fit perfectly with the warnings Jesus gave us in Matt 24 and in Revelations, that it is without question a year that will be unlike many others. So many of our freedoms, dreams, pleasures that we used to enjoy are being adulterated and it’s important as Followers of Christ’s Words that we spiritually prepare ourselves to stay “equally yoked” with Jesus to make it through until He takes us home.

waiting 4 loveJust as in Noah’s days, Lot’s days, and Moses’ days, there are circumstances which are not in line with what God had planned for us and we’ll need to prepare to be set apart from so much worldly distraction. This also has profound implications for how and who we choose as our mates. Personally, I find it extremely challenging in this derogatory environment to interact with a suitable Christian man who is fully aware of the secular times and is preparing in The Word and Holy Spirit for what’s to come. It’s hard being a single Christian woman who isn’t willing to compromise when most men can’t wait for an easy “target” to enjoy & disrespect at the same time. It seems like no one is interested in simply spending quality time to learn about each other and grow together in Christ and form a lasting union. We’re so busy trying to keep our financial heads afloat, seeking fulfillment in secular groups that can never keep us warm at night, and forgetting Our Creator who lovingly formed bonds of love for us to enjoy with each other. I often grapple with whom could I trust my heart to share with on this earth when so many relationships fail for lack of honesty, infidelity, abuse, disrespect, and superficiality. The “spiritual wickedness in high places” (Eph. 6:12) that we currently face is so prevalent, I sometimes wonder if it would even be wise to still believe in finding my “better half”….

At the end of the day, I have to keep my heart guarded (Prov 4:23) as the days grow more evil until the end. However, I’m still a woman in Christ and I still have a special place in my heart & soul for “the Adam to my Eve”. No matter how cold the world becomes, I’m still a woman with depth, passions, warmth, and aspirations to share with the right man in Christ. Of course, this is all said knowing that it is completely under God’s Perfect Will for my life, and I am prepared, just as Esther was, for my Bridegroom Jesus, whether an earthly groom is also included in my future. I don’t want to be without oil in 10 Virgins Parablemy lamp as 5 out of the 10 virgin brides were in Jesus’ parable (Matt 25)! Plus, in all honesty, knowing prophecy & how close time is to Christ’s return, it’s not that long left here in this world anyways, lol! Hence, I will press forward in Christ’s strength through the highs and lows of this single season….

But, it would be nice to walk hand-in-hand with a godly man someday…. 😉

Insomnia 2012

How has your start to 2012 been? I pray that Our Great Lord is keeping you all in grace and peace. Unfortunately, I was met at the beginning of this secular year with a resistant bout of insomnia which hindered my ability to do my normal daily tasks, including posting, which has become dear to me. Actually, it is a bittersweet result of my slowly healing adrenals; it’s “sweet” because it is a sign of my adrenals building up & making a bit more of it’s own hormones (chiefly cortisol in this case), however “bitter” because it is overproducing cortisol at the wrong time of the “day” and makes it difficult to sleep.

Cortisol is an extremely important hormone involved with modulating responses to stress (whether physical or emotional stress, the body doesn’t know the difference) and affects all body systems from your immunity to your metabolism. In fact, it is the main hormone that is meant to “kick-in” to wake you up in the morning after your melatonin (sleep hormone) decreases as the morning sunlight begins. Cortisol helps to get your body ready and alert to face the day and is meant to gradually decrease as the evening rolls around so you can eventually sleep (melatonin then takes over during the night with other important hormones). However with Adrenal Fatigue (Insuffiency), at a certain stage, your adrenals that make cortisol can misread when to send out or when to stop sending out cortisol, therefore the body could be kept “awake” at night because cortisol still remains in high levels.

I used to think that I was truly “wired”, or programmed physiologically, as a “night owl”, since my most creative & mentally active time of day has been between 12-3 AM. However, since adrenal fatigued stepped in, those glands cannot maintain that schedule and is overcompensating with excessive cortisol. If you find you can’t fall asleep when your body is tired, if you fall asleep only to awaken and not fall back to sleep, or your sleep ends short with lingering exhaustion, you might want to check with your health care professional if other symptoms might lead to hormonal testing & diagnosis.

This was also important for me to mention, as it has implications for relationship/marriage stability. As I’ve mentioned before, there are several things that can interfere with how couples relate or understand each other, and a significant one is one’s health. This is where Jesus’ teaching to bear with each other and be kind is paramount, since it is possible emotional tension could be rooted in a physical imbalance, such as in adrenal fatigue. Your partner may be irritable, depressed, moody, anxious, tired, trite, etc. due to hormonal fluctuations, not simply because that’s “the way they are”. Their behaviors could be a mirror to a real physical turmoil from within that is crying out for help. Therefore, let’s be more patient with each other, and offer comfort with the understanding that other underlining issues can exist from health problems.

I praise Father God for sharing His infinite wisdom & for His Holy Word for guidance as I wade through this recovery process. Thank you all for your patience and continuing to follow & comment on my blog. I hope in God’s Will to respond & visit each of you, and will definitely continue posting.  I hope this post will be a blessing to others suffering with this condition. In our weakness, Christ is made strong!

God Bless!

Happy New Years…?

2012Why do we celebrate New Years Eve/Day?

While the world parties in drunken bliss, counting down the last seconds of the year, have you ever stopped and wondered why New Years Eve/Day is celebrated? Even if you & your loved ones are resolved to enjoying a more conservative transition into the new year, when was the last time you questioned why is it even in existence? As Christians, we know God reveals so many truths in His Holy Word (Bible) about what His Will is, and surprisingly New Years Day is no exception…

Is December 31-Jan. 1st the ending/beginning of the year for God?

Exodus 12:1-3,11  “And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. Speak unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for a house:….(11) And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’S Passover.”

Did you know God told us in His Word when He began the year for us, 10 days before Passover?? As a small note, Passover is one of God’s Holy Feast celebrations (Leviticus 23) to commemorate how He utilized the blood of an unblemished lamb to save the Israelites from God’s 1st born plague against the stubborn Pharaoh of Egypt. The literal Passover lamb was a forshadow of Jesus Christ being our final and spiritual Passover Lamb, covering us who believe in Him as Savior in his blood over the cross (lamb covering Israel’s door posts in Egypt). Jesus’ sacrifice saved us from the death of sin just as the lamb’s blood saved the Hebrews from the 1st born plague God sent over the Egyptians. We presently don’t need to sacrifice lambs in honor of Passover as Jesus was the “final sacrifice” for all sins (John 1:29, Hebrews 9:28). However, Jesus did instruct us to remember His Last Supper in honor of how He was to save us through His death & resurrection ( Mark 14:22-25, I Corinthians 11:24-26).

Therefore, God began His New Year when Passover was celebrated in the SPRING season, when nature blossoms anew! This is in complete contrast to Dec. 31st-Jan. 1st in the dead of WINTER! Hence, again, if God told us His year begins 10 days before Passover, where did traditional New Years Eve/Day come from & why are we (especially Christians) celebrating it?!

For more intense study (including historical evidence), I’d invite you to review this video and pray over what is being revealed to you. God loves us too much and sacrificed too much to keep us in the dark about things which are not pure in His sight. Freedom of Choice is a gift from God, however He always provides us wisdom & truth to base decisions on. Let’s be mindful of what we are indirectly celebrating and paying homage to. Why not spend some time meditating on this and resolve this year to live in God’s truth? You’ll be truly blessed as a result!

~Gratitude~

Blessings & a Happy Sabbath to all of you! It’s been a busy last week or so for me, but I wanted to make sure I took the opportunity to THANK YOU all for your visits, comments, follows, and support in this blog! I had no idea that others would appreciate what the Holy Spirit has lead me to share here, and I give Father God all the praise & glory because I believe He wants us all to know He intimately cares about the matters of our hearts & will give us His best.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

In my next post, I will address New Years Eve/Day in a very thought-provoking way & I look forward to your thoughts/comments.
